What no founder can do is personally carry trust into every country, language and relationship.

Once a community crosses borders, the centre becomes the bottleneck. Every message, every decision, every explanation still flows through one person. That works in one market. It breaks at scale.

The lesson I keep coming back to is simple:

You cannot scale trust centrally. You have to distribute leadership.

People do not trust an organisation because it publishes more. They trust the person close enough to answer their question, who is still there when things change, and who behaves the way the organisation says it behaves.

That person is almost never the founder. It is a local leader.

So the job changes. Instead of managing every interaction, you define the principles, develop the people who carry them, and protect the standards that hold it together.

Membership numbers measure reach. They say nothing about whether a community is healthy. The better question is how many members teach, contribute and take responsibility without being asked.
